Description
"M" is a changeling with trauma-based Disassociative Identity Disorder that causes them to shift into entirely different character sheets once certain conditions are met, or at times completely at random. Any indication that they are shifting alters is intercepted by their brain to ensure that they do not learn this (e.g. selective blindness, selective deafness, et cetera).
Backstory:
Archibald Fredrickson was a young writer—decent at best—and he was looking to write a masterpiece. He was in extreme debt from local presses, and wasn't making the money he needed to make. He needed to make something momentous, something that would inspire, something to entice! He to be inspired himself.
One day, while walking along a beach of Nation of Deneir, he found what appeared to be the blur of a man washed up on shore. No notable features—almost a blank being. Feeling as if it were a sign from the gods, he took the being in.
He had a brilliant idea: he’d write a fictional poem based of this person and their life. Archibald nurtured the person until they'd finally awoken—when suddenly, the person became extremely familiar: a near copy of Archibald. Stunned, he began to revaluate whether he should have brought the being in or not. Regardless, he needed to write a story and was desperate for money.
Archibald attempted questioning the man, but quickly came to find that the man had no idea who he was, where he was, or why he was here. Archibald took it upon himself, and decided that he’d just make stuff up. And so, he named the man Mirdis (based on the great legend of Miris from a land far away).
He recounted to the man stories of him falling in love with a woman—Mareissa—and told of her vengeful ex-boyfriend—Mirrisso—a savvy Spaniard who never put his love for her above his love for nature. This enraged Mareissa, and she resented Mirrisso for it. While Mirdis wasn't a fighter, he had a great way with words. So, when Mirrisso and Mirdis had an altercation, Mirdis insulted and outwitted him until Mirrisso snapped and struck Mirdis. Mirdis was brought within an inch of his life, when a royal paladin—Mirwis—appeared and saved him from certain doom. (Due to Archibald's lack of creativity, all the names wound up resembling that of Miris).
With this general basis of a story down, he sent the newly named Mirdis on his way, along with a flyer from Theos and a draft of his new short story. Mirdis and his map almost made it to Theos, when something odd happened: he suddenly and randomly went unconscious. The next time he awoke, he was being thrown in prison. Mirwis—the aspiring young dragonborn—had come taken his place and noticed the flyer. Having no recollection, he said “divine knowledge sounds like it might be interesting...” and continued on the journey.

Different environments or scenarios can trigger "M" to shift into different alters. However, there are also times where "M" shifts and there's no perceptible reason behind it.

Notes:
I think I want to make him from outside the continent—given that he has no memory and Mirchael is a race that isn't present on Cyfandir. Perhaps he sustained some trauma and sailed to Cyfandir for some reason. A desperate last plea? Insanity? Suicide? Either way, the gods didn't dispose of him for some reason and he managed to make it through—however at the loss of all of his memories.
